In Fujian Province and Jiangsu province of China, there exists an extraordinary folk craft, the lacquer ware. It originated from the Warring States Period (472BC221BC) and reached its golden age in the Qing Dynasty (1616-1911) from the palace to the people, from the ancient age to modern times, the Chinese lacquer ware has left deep prints in the history for its light and handy quality of material, exquisite decorations, bright colors and its durability. Thanks to its unique national style and strong local features, it is honored as one of the three treasures of China's traditional crafts together with the cloisonné of Beijing and the porcelain ware of Jingdezhen of Jiangxi Province. |
