In the vast land of China live 56 ethnic groups. The Han ethnic group accounts for more than 90% of the entire population of China. China's other ethnic groups are called the minority ethnic groups. These ethnic groups are distributed in the north and the south and are completely different in both geographic and environmental conditions. Based on their own ways of life and habits, they have created and developed different ethnic costumes with apparent ethnic characteristics. Both the straightforward and unrestrained costumes of northern minority ethnic groups and the delicate and dainty costumes of southern ethnic groups combine the functions of practicality, ornamentation and culture into one. They have passed on the living wisdom, spiritual worship and aesthetic concept of one generation to the next. |
