Alxa in the western part of China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has a reputation as a Mysterious Land in China because of its unique geography. Alxa is home to the world's highest-altitude desert, a lake naturally formed by springs sprung forth from the hinterland, the mysterious valley Genghis Khan once passed through during his long march, and the best preserved diversiform-leaved poplar trees in the world. It also has the historical site of the Black City, where great treasure is allegedly buried. Alxa, once covered by a vast sea in ancient times, has become an enchanting paradise for adventure-lovers |
