The renowned Dangxiong Horse Racing Festival is held at the Qiangtang Grasslands on the tenth day of the seventh month of the Tibetan calendar. At this time each year, herdsmen from dozens of nearby townships wear festive attire to join the happy parage. The Qiangtang Grasslands are decorated as colorfully and brilliantly as a grand stage for Tibetan dress. Their clothing fills an integrated function of being practical, ornamental and carrying on folk customs. Tibetan costume blends the wisdom rooted in everyday life with devoted religious beliefs, and conveys aesthetic concepts from different times, regions and clans of people. |
