1. [Inferring themes in fiction, Part I & II] Steph uses fiction to explore the strategy of inferential thinking. She launches the three day lesson with an interactive read-aloud of Eve day lesson with an interactive read-aloud of Eve Bunting's picture book Gelam and Glow. She reads the book to the class, have the class respond to the book as she teaches, and after discussing she had the students paractice inferring themes in their independent reading.---2. [Determining importance in nonfiction, Part I & II] Anne and Jessica shows student how to determine important information as they read nonfiction. She used one of her strategies to help students/kids think about information rather than merely memorizing it, making them more likely to identify what is important and understand it. |
