The Lijiang River is situated in the northeast part of Guilin City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. At the end of the 1970s and the beginning of the 1980s, the municipal government of Guilin City put in place a number of environmental protection measures so that the beautiful Lijiang River would continue to benefit the people. Mr. Huang Xingyue, the descendant of fishermen, lives in the Xingping Town on the east bank of the Lijiang River. Along with the local tourism development, Huang's family, with their diligent efforts, started the first private-run hotel in town. The reform and opening up policy has changed the life of the Huang's family. However, his deep love for the Lijiang River has remained unchanged. |
