This film tells the love stories of three generations of women in one family by comparing them to Jasmine flowers. It tracks grandmother, mother and daughter over the primes of their lives in Shanghai, China in the 1930's, 1950's and 1980's. Their experiences vary with their times, but they all follow similar paths. The grandmother and mother cannot change their miserable and desperate lives until the daughter grows up and starts to fight her fate. |
