NOTES: |
This is the second of two programs about the body's defense mechanisms. The first program demonstrated the body's reaction to local injuries; this program deals with events when the entire body is under attack - when bacteria or viruses invade the whole system. It examines the roles of the spleen, the lymphatic system, and white blood cells, and explains the body's production of antibodies. Using the common cold as an example, it demonstrates the sequence from viral attack to recovery. |
