NOTES: A story from the Llanos country of southern Venezuela about a boy who saved his family from destitution through the power and beauty of his music. Felipe's family is about to lose everything because they can find no way to pay what they owe Don Vicente, who will repossess their house and cattle. Felipe only wants to make music-an ambition his mother cannot afford to let him indulge, because she needs him to help with the work. On the day Don Vicente comes to collect his debt there is a musical contest. Playing his magical harp, Felipe wins. Touched by the music and proud to have so talented a boy on his lands, Don Vicente cancels the family's debt.
