Eighteen years before, a girl fell in love with the man when he was a young writer and moved into the house next door. Her obsession for the man and the passion of her youth carried throughout her life, and nothing, from the loss of her family, war or her ending up basically as a prostitute, ever changed her love for him. Yet she only decided to tell him her story at the end of her life.
