Every culture had its defining myth: Hindu Indians have their "Mahabharata," the Greeks their Homeric "Odyssey." For Native Hawaiians, perhaps no myth is more central than Pele and Hiìiaka, the story of the Fire Goddess Pele and her enduring rivalry with her sister, Hiìaka.
