Today, scientists are using the latest discoveries in reproduction to save animals threatened with extinction. At the Cincinnati zoo, Bill Kurtis introduces Dr. Betsy Dresser, a contemporary "Noah" who is the director of the Center for Reproduction of Endangered Wildlife. Dr. Dresser uses in vitro fertilization, embryo transfers, and surrogate mothers to increase the odds for endangered species. We witness the beginning of life, when, in an amazing operation, she creates a test-tube "baby" from two leopards and places it in a surrogate mother, a domestic cat. |
